Camilla,
Duchess of Cornwall
Camilla Rosemary Shand was born on July 17th 1947 to The Honourable Rosalind Cubitt and Bruce Shand in London, England. Camilla's maternal grandparents were Sonia Cubitt, Baroness Ashcombe, and Roland Cubitt, Baron Ashcombe. Through Camilla's maternal grandmother Sonia, she is a great-granddaughter of Alice Keppel, the famous mistress of King Edward VII. Camilla is the eldest of the three children of the Shand family, with her having a sister, Annabel, and brother Mark Shand.
Prince Charles and Camilla Parker-Bowles maintained affairs throughout both their marriages, which is said to have caused both Charles's marriage to The Lady Diana Spencer, Princess of Wales in 1996, and Camilla's marriage to Andrew Parker-Bowles in 1995.
After Diana's death in the famous 1997 Paris car crash, Camilla was seen as a hate figure to the world, and still is to this day. Charles and Camilla finally announced their relationship shortly after that, and Camilla had started to become more accepted by the Royal Family throughout the years. Both Camilla and Charles have both cleaned up their images, especially Camilla.
On April 9th 2005, Charles and Camilla married, after announcing their engagement on February 10th 2005, with the consent of the Queen. Camilla officially shares the titles of Prince Charles by their marriage, with her now becoming: Camilla, The Princess of Wales, Duchess of Cornwall, Countess of Chester, Baroness Renfrew. Camilla is known as Charles's second highest ranking title, Duchess of Cornwall, out of respect for the late previous Princess of Wales, Diana.
Today, Camilla is usually consorts Charles on his official Royal engagements and tours as she is now a member of the Royal Family. Large events she has attended to in the past couple of years is the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton, and the events of The Queen's Diamond Jubilee. When Charles succeeds to the throne as expected, it is said that Camilla will become Princess Consort, taking more of a morganatic style, rather than the traditional style of Queen Consort. That might change, depending on the worlds view of her at the time.
